Shortboards

A shortboard is designed for maximum maneuverability, generating speed, using rails for control, and accessing the more critical parts of the wave. Generally but not always shaped with a narrower nose and tail, lower volume, and thinner rails for edgy bottom turns and controlled slides and sprays. Lightweight construction when combined with the above attributes helps surfers go fast, defy gravity, and get deep in the barrel. We offer standard and high performance shortboards.

Dart ▲

Made for barrels, airs, and uncompromising slashing and sliding. The noticeable deep single concave transitions to the crown of a double concave that slices and divides the water to provide additional thrust, harnessing the wave energy. Thin to medium to thin rails with a progressive deck and bottom rocker combo for ripping all conditions.

Quesodia ▲

Quintessential performance tri/thurster shortboard with a Brög flair. A sharp, reliable blade that offers a continuously curved outline, a pointy nose, high-performance rails and triple concave bottom. A tight rounded dove baby swallow tail allows the board to decelerate and find control and is what makes it a magic Brög board. The complete expression of a surfer’s need for speed, control, and release that can be relied on in the gnarliest conditions at home and on your next surf trip.

Dia Skate ▲

High performance shortboard design that features pop, slide, and boost. Functional for all conditions as the deep single concave locks in all the power to be unleashed in and out of the water. The balanced design, flatter deck, and fuller rails provides for great paddling, acceleration, and landing airs. Similar to a skateboard as it is made for tricks and kicks.

Seed ▲

A quintessential California groveler simplified for all around shredding. Curved outline like a seed and a low continuous entry rocker that accelerates through the round pintail. Slight single to double concave. This shape creates a loose feel with stability at the same time. Five fin setup recommended.

Vaquita ▲

An easy playful small wave shredder in the spirit of the Vaquita, the world’s smallest whale. The board has a fantastic planing area, nice rounded rails, deep single concave, and a soft diamond tail with sharp, tucked hard edge for additional thrust. Two versions are available. The EPS (epoxy) construction (Vaquita Pro) comes with a quad fin set up, two deep channels inside the single concave, and designed for highest performance. The poly (PU) construction (Vaquita Classic) comes with a 7 inch center fin box and two front side boxes, flexible enough to ride as a tri-fin, two plus one adjustable, or a pure single fin. The Vaquita whale is almost extinct, so we will donate $20 to the Sea Sheperd Conservation Society for every Vaquita board we sell.

F-4 ▲

High performance standard shortboard. Low rocker from the tail through the middle of the board, then becoming more pronounced to the tip of the nose of the board to add comfort even in the steepest of waves. Thin medium boxy rails, single to slight double concave to vee finish with traditional squash tail for seamless cut backs, slashes, and tubes

Flying Saucer ▲

Shortboarding simplified–think groveler that lights up when conditions warrant it. Nose pointed yet wide and thicker for a larger sweet spot and less wobble on the pop up. Thin squash tail for hold and quick release. Performance shortboard features on the rails and bottom, just more nose width and thickness for extra stability during take off. Glides thru soft or flatter sections better because of deep single to double concave, extra width, and tunnel rails.

Saber ▲

This was a very successful design breakthrough!  Unusual to the eye but familiar feel under your feet. This is a great all condition progressive surfboard. Engineered to not dig the nose. The noticeable deep single concave transitions to the crown of a double concave that slices and divides the water to provide additional thrust, harnessing the wave energy and holding the wave face even under super steep conditions. The rounded dove swallow tail allows the board to decelerate and find control. Recommend a five fin set up for the greatest flexibility.

Yellow Alert Gun ▲

Field tested in pumping winter surf in California and Teahupo’o Tahiti. The outline has a pointed nose for deep duck dives for those tortuous paddle outs. The compact pintail with the flat to single concave bottom in front of the fins allows for steep drop ins while holding the line on bowling, fast faces. The rocker provides the necessary glide into larger waves. Set up as a tri/thruster and can be sized for the yellow alert size days up to code red size days.

Twinzer High Performance ▲

This is our high performance version of our popular Twinzer Fish. Snaps, slashes, tailslides and tubes are easy to find with the Twinzer High Performance. It is for aggressive surfers who want high speeds, tight arcs, and fast rail to rail responses and turns intuitively through a wide range of sections on the wave. The channeled bat tail design delivers extra hold and release. Extra concave thru the fins and tail allows the board to ride overhead surf.
